During the COVID-19 pandemic and social uprisings, I leveraged my design research expertise to help AIGA Nebraska navigate an organizational restructure and rebuild community relationships. After the nationwide shutdown in March 2020, all programming moved online or ceased, and the organization faced an identity crisis amid heightened social equity concerns. Many members left in protest, forcing a reevaluation of priorities. Drawing on my nonprofit experience, I supported AIGA Nebraska in fostering more equitable relationships that better reflected the diverse experiences of its members. While progress continues, the organization regained momentum in 2021 through active listening, thoughtful planning, and a commitment to equity.
