Director of Education for AIGA Nebraska Board of Directors

Amid the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and social uprisings, leveraging design research expertise, served AIGA NE during an organizational restructure to foster community relationships.

Following a nationwide “shut-down” in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all organizational programming and activity went online or ended. To compound this, during the social uprisings, locally and nationally, AIGA headquarters went through an identity crisis. Questions, accusations, and social equity concerns about the organization became front-and-center—with many members leaving the organization as a grand gesture. During the following time, I used my design research perspective and not-for-profit experience to help AIGA Nebraska restructure and develop more equitable community relationships that reflected the membership base’s diverse lived experience. While these goals are still in development, AIGA Nebraska got back on track in 2021 with careful listening, planning, and a dedication to equity.
